This project explores the design of a Formula-style open wheel race car with a focus on suspension components developed using generative design. The project is centered around creating an approximate 1/14 scale open wheel car using a direct drive from a 540 size motor with only a differential to send power to the rear wheel. The front suspension uses pushrod style but only one shock to save space. The rear suspension is a more standard pushrod style that uses two shocks. Although this project is still a work in progress, it has taught me a lot about making smoother, more aerodynamic bodies in CAD and using Fusion’s generative design function.
